Our pilgrimage will include amongst many other sites, the Garden of Gethsemane and the beautiful Mount of Beatitudes; we visit the quaint village of Ein Karem and spend an afternoon in “Nazareth Village” where they have recreated the village in to the time of Jesus.

While in Nazareth you will visit St. Joseph's Church; and then stop at Cana— the site of the miracle where Jesus changed water into wine at the Wedding of Cana.  At Kibbutz Ginossar we will have the wonderful opportunity of studying a 2000 year old boat recently uncovered on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

While In Jerusalem, we will have day excursions to Bethlehem, Shepherds’ Field, the Milk Grotto and a special stop at the Ladies Auxilliary where we will get the chance to see the amazing embroidery work created on site.


Visit the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, Via Doloroso, the Wailing Wall, and so much more.

Day 1  May 31, 2010   Haifa
Arrive Ben Gurion airport, where you will be met by your guide for this journey. Enjoy the scenic drive to Haifa followed by dinner and overnight in Haifa.

 

Day 2  June 1, 2010        Haifa
In Haifa, you will visit the Stella Maris Convent and the Elijah Cave on Mount Carmel and visit the amazing Bahai Gardens and Temple, a must see in Haifa. From here you drive south to Caesarea to visit Herod’s city with its amphitheater and aqueducts. Return to Haifa to rest and unwind and possibly spend time at the beach. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 3  June 2, 2010        Galilea
Today you bid farewell to Haifa as you head north to the crusader city of Acre. Visit the Citadel, the Knights’ Hall and Jezzar Pasha Mosque. Drive to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus, where you take taxis up through the winding road to the top.  The panoramic view from atop the mount is truly breathtaking.  You drive to the Sea of Galilee, your home for the next two nights.

 

Day 4  June 3, 2010        Galilea
This morning tour the Lake sites. Starting with Capernaum, home of Jesus during His ministry. After visiting the Synagogue where He taught, drive to Tabgha, site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. See the Mt. of the Beatitudes and visit the site of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus preached to the people. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Sea of Galilee from Kibbutz Nof Ginosar to Tiberias, where you will enjoy a St. Peter’s fish lunch. This afternoon, you can enjoy some free time in the city of Tiberias by the lake. Your bus will meet up with you at a designated hour to take you back to your hotel.

 

Day 5  June 4, 2010        Jerusalem
You leave Tiberias heading south to Jerusalem. En route, you visit Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed the first miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding feast. Continue to Nazareth and visit the Annunciation Church, Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. A stop to tour the Nazareth Village, a replica of a village during the time of Jesus, where you feast on a Biblical style lunch at the village. After lunch, you drive down the Jordan Valley to the ancient city of Jericho. Drive up to Jerusalem, if time permits, you will stop at Mount Scopus to enjoy your first view of the Holy City. Check into your hotel, your home for the next five nights.

 

Day 6  June 5, 2010        Jerusalem
Drive a few miles south to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus and the cradle of Christianity. Visit the Church of the Nativity, the Manger, the Milk Grotto, the Shepherds’ Fields and the Fields of Boaz. Visit the Herodian, where Herod’s Tomb has been discovered.

Continue on to Ein Karem where you visit the birthplace of John the Baptist and the Church of Visitation where Mary visited Elizabeth.  You return to Jerusalem for an overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 7  June 6, 2010        Jerusalem
This morning ascend to the top of the Mt. of Olives to enjoy the spectacular view of the “Golden City”. Visit the Church of Pater Noster and the Chapel of Ascension. Walk to the Chapel of Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept over Jerusalem and foretold its complete destruction. Visit the Russian Church of Mary Magdalene then to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations, which commemorate the Agony in the Garden. Drive through the Kedron Valley to see the Tombs of Absalom, Zacharia, and James and the Gihon Fountain

In the afternoon, visit Mount Zion. Stand in the Upper Room where Jesus ate the Last Supper with His disciples. Then, survey the Dormition Abbey, St. Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Jesus three times and King David’s Tomb. View the Hill of Evil Counsel before you go back to your hotel.

 

Day 8  June 7, 2010        Jerusalem
In the Old City, stand in the courtyard of the Dome of the Rock and El Aqsa Mosque, most sacred site to Moslems and immerse yourself in the architecture and artwork of the mosaic of the Dome. Visit the Wailing Wall, the holiest shrine in the world for Jews. You walk through the narrow, winding and cobble-stoned streets of the Old City. Sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne and view the Pool of Bethesda. Visit the Chapel of Flagellation, Lithostrotos, and the Arch of the “Ecce Homo”. Follow our Lord on the Way of the Cross “Via Dolorosa” to visit Golgotha and the Tomb of the Risen Savior.

 

Day 9  June 8, 2010        Jerusalem
Free day where you can return to some of the sites you have visited or opt to venture off on your own to the New City and it’s museums. Tonight you shall enjoy a farewell Middle Eastern dinner at your hotel.

 

Day 10 June 9, 2010        Petra
You bid farewell to the Holy city as you head to Jordan. On your way to the border crossing, you stop at Bethany, where Our Lord came to recuperate in the home of His loving friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Cross into Jordan through the Allenby Bridge, and drive straight to the amazing red-rose city of Petra, a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago. You visit the Treasury, the many tombs, a Roman Style theater. There are obelisks, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets, and high above, overlooking the valley, is the impressive Ad-Deir Monastery – a flight of 800 rock cut steps take you there. (an option of taking a horse drawn carriage is available at a nominal fee) Check into your hotel to rest and enjoy dinner before you retire for the night.

 

Day 11 June 10, 2010       Dead Sea
You leave Petra and head to the Dead Sea. On the way, you visit Makawer, where on Its hilltop at Herod the great built his palace and this is where Herod ordered the beheading of John the Baptist at the request of Salome. Visit Madaba and St. George’s Monastery which hosts the 4th century mosaic map of the Holy Land. On to Mount Nebo, where Moses is reputed to be buried and it was from here that he was shown the land of Cannan which he was never to visit. The church at Mt. Nebo is in the care of the Franciscan order and has many fine mosaics. You end the day with an important visit at the Baptismal site on the Jordan River. Here at “Bethany beyond the Jordan” John baptised Jesus thus

beginning His mission that led to the establishment of Christianity. Enjoy dinner at a traditional and authentic Middle Eastern restaurant in Madaba before you arrive to your hotel in the Dead Sea, where you shall enjoy a couple of relaxing days.

 

Day 12 June 11, 2010       Dead Sea
A free day to unwind by the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, it’s waters rich with minerals and salts beneficial to many ailments. Enjoy a swim or ‘float’ at the hotel’s beach or have some spa treatments (at own expense). Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 13     June 12, 2010     Return flight home
You bid farewell to Jordan and the Holy Land as you head to Queen Alia airport for our departure flight back home.
