Chillon Castle

Chillon Castle

On the eastern shore of the Lake Geneva (also named Lac Leman), you can find a medieval architectural jewel: the Chillon castle. The castle was set between water and mountain and archeological researches showed that the site has been occupied very early, before the medieval age, during the Bronze Age. The location of the castle had been chosen very carefully for its strategic location which allowed the control of travellers between southern and northern Europe. Moreover the rock offered to its inhabitants a natural protection in case of invasion.
